Archbishop Kennedy coach Jack Dabagian said his team might have taken things for granted Tuesday night when the Saints met Pottsgrove in the first round of the girls' PIAA District 1 Class AAA basketball playoffs.
Carol Lynch's 12 points paced Kennedy, which trailed by 28 25 at the end of three quarters. The Saints did not take control until the last 3 minutes, when six straight free throws stretched a 33 31 lead to 39 31. Erin McCarthy, Lori Lynch and Kathy Stillman each made a pair of free throws during the run.
In another Class AAA game Tuesday, Lower Moreland was forced to play without 5 foot, nike air jordan pas cher, 10 inch Dee Pfendner, who is out for the season with mononucleosis, but still romped over Harriton, 63 33.
The Lions jumped to an 18 6 lead in the first quarter and limited Harriton to 2 points in the second quarter, taking a 34 8 lead at halftime.
Sophomore forward Betsy Laskowski paced Lower Moreland with a season high 25 points. Freshman Liz Rizen, a 4 11 point guard, converse homme, had 16 points and 10 steals.
Despite the win, Lower Moreland coach Joe Wesley remained realistic about his team's chances of making the state playoffs without Pfendner.
"With her, jordan pas cher, I believe we are one of the three or four best teams in the district in our class," he said. "But without her, I don't know. We just don't have anyone else with any height. It will definitely hurt us down the road."
The Lions are scheduled to meet Avon Grove in the second round of the playoffs at a time and place to be announced, chaussure nike tn.
Junior Peggi Jewell, bottes louboutin, a 6 2 center, baskets nike tn requin, led Wissahickon with 17 points and 21 rebounds. Senior forward Tricia Corace added 19 points and 10 rebounds, escarpins louboutin pas cher, while Dee Perry chipped in 12 points and 9 rebounds.
After a sluggish first quarter in which the Trojans built an 11 8 lead, Wissahickon outscored Chester by 15 3 in the second quarter to take control of the game.
"We decided to play basketball," Trojans coach Mary Scott said. "We capitalized on the turnovers, nike tn homme, which were caused by our press."
Wissahickon will play either Conestoga or North Penn on Saturday at a time and place to be determined.
The Class AA playoffs will get under way tonight when Springfield travels to Pottstown to meet St. Pius X. The Spartans finished the season as the sixth place team in the Suburban One American Conference Liberty Division with a 3 13 record. Pius was third in the Pioneer Athletic Conference, converse enfant.
The winner will play Bristol, which has a bye in the first round, on Tuesday.
Jenkintown receives a bye in the opening round of the Class A playoffs and will meet the winner of tonight's Christopher Dock Morrisville contest on March 5 or 6.
Mount St. Joseph's will open the Athletic Association of Catholic Academies playoffs Monday against St. Basil's at a site to be determined.
On Tuesday, the Mount dropped its season finale, air jordan spizike, 42 35, to Villa Joseph Maria, finishing in third place with an 8 4 record. Kathy Haggerty scored 11 points for the Mount.
