I'm a judgment matchmaking professional that writes a lot of articles. Today was a Sunday, almost always the quietest working day in the week,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and also it was one more goofy Daylight Saving Time (DST) clock resetting game time period in my office, I wrote this article with my opinion on the subject of DST. First of all,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], it's not Daylight Savings Time, it's Daylight Saving Time, abbreviated as DST for this article.
If I remember my history correctly; DST didn't begin due to modern farm techniques,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], or to help kids go to school each morning. DST began in the USA from an order from the government, when World War 1 was raging. Their goal seemed to be to conserve energy, during that difficult time of production and manufacturing during war time; by avoiding the disadvantage of reduced hours of daylight between October and April.
I think a more common sense and smarter choice compared to DST, both now and historically, is to just modify some work, government, and school scheduling hours two times per year, to more closely match up with sunlight hours.
During World War two, the US government once again ordered states to comply with DST. After During World War, and until 1966,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], communities and states were allowed to decide whether to follow DST.
Congress passed in 1966, their Uniform Time Act,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], that standardized DST through the USA and its possessions and territories; although it didn't force each state to comply with DST, however most did comply.
In 2007, rather than undoing the possibly silly DST; the people got instead the "Energy Policy Act in 2005" (15 U.S. Code Section 260a). With a few exceptions,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], it made DST mandatory across the nation,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and increased DST's duration by 4 weeks.
The alleged 2007 goal was once again to conserve energy. If it was my decision,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], I would have picked abandoning DST, and moved to "winter and summer hours" instead. Also, although DST may have conserved energy eighty years ago, I don't believe DST conserves any energy in these times. Any energy that gets conserved in the evening is lost in the morning and vice versa.
DST isn't followed in certain states and territories. Examples include Arizona (except certain Indian reservations), Puerto Rico, Hawaii, American Samoa,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and the US Virgin Islands. Remember that the nearer to the equator one is, the more consistent the daylight hours are throughout the year.
Is the precise time consistently vital to everybody these days? If you need to interact with the outside world and society, it is. Yet, most of us no longer eat our lunch at precisely noon. We usually go to the bathroom when nature calls, not when it's a certain time of day. In modern times, most of us tend to watch TV when we want, eat when we are hungry when we decide to, etc.
In modern times, nearly everybody has more than one mobile devices,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], computers, and/or smart phones. Some folks currently use their mobile devices or smart phones as their alarm clock.
Certain homes having a bunch of mobile devices and computers that reset their date and time automatically,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], have thrown out many of their clocks. Even when one no longer has any more stand alone clocks, DST is still a great time to verify the battery in smoke detectors, etc.
