So I salute you George Steinbrenner, principal owner of my NewYork Yankees. Thanks for taking the team on your back and goingfor it all the time. While [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] I may not agree with all your tacticsI am fascinated with [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] your ongoing will to win. Imagine what itmust have been like playing dominoes, or marbles or any othergame with George when he was a kid. Do you think he had [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] to win?If Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Mickey Mantle, Joe DiMaggio, or YogiBerra were playing on [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] another team other than the Yankees andbecame available through free agency, do you think George wouldtry and get him? What do you think? ?
Who Is Our Daddy? - George Steinbrenner, that's who. Thankgoodness the Yankees have him. Big Daddy, George Steinbrenner,is a [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] Yankee fan's delight. As a Yankee fan I [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] love that so manyother fans hate what George has done and continues to do. Hegets the players that he needs. He pushes forward to get anotherchampionship for his Yankees. I can visualize George sitting inhis office making calls to see if the superstar that he sohighly touts is close to signing a Yankee contract. When theYankees have been in need of a pitcher they get Roger Clemens,or Mike Mussina, or Catfish Hunter, or Randy Johnson. Some ofthe top pitchers in [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] the game. If it's a slugger they need Georgebrings the best to New York. Reggie Jackson, Dave Winfield, GarySheffield, or Alex Rodriguez will don the Yankee pinstripes.Having the best for the Yankees and their fans makes all thedifference. We know as fans that our team is doing whatever itcan to bring in a championship. [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] And when all is said and done -what more can we ask for? George is relentless. He wants anotherWorld Series ring for the Bronx Bombers. Six is not enough forhim. Arriving at the playoffs 14 times is not the name of thisgame. Winning the World Series is [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] the only game in town. I haveto admire that kind of pursuit. I have always felt funny when Isee a player or an owner in a TV interview rejoice when his [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] teamcomes in second. Something feels off. Second place is not aprize worth having But not with George. I love his spirit. Ilove his attitude about winning. I love winning it all in thefall. Has there been another owner in any sport, in the last 25years that has operated with the same intensity that George hashad? In any sport? I think not. Say what you will about the bigguy. He [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] is money hungry, he has an ego problem, he stops atnothing, he [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] plays unfair. I do not think he cares. what othersare saying He has a cause and a mission. Bring championships toNew York.
